Fire Suppression System

Among the different fire suppression systems available, gaseous extinguishing systems are the most preferred option. A gaseous extinguishing system is ideal for a building which houses valuable equipment such as computers, communication rooms, data storage or valuable archives. If a fire is detected, gas is released which extinguishes the flames, causing minimal or no damage to the contents of the room.

These clean agent systems do not conduct electricity, have minimal down time to users following a fire, and leave no residue. This ensures that there is no cleaning up required and there can be instant business continuity.

At Spectrum Int. LLC, we offer you a wide range of products and impartial advice on the system best suited to your needs.

Chemical Fire Suppression System

The two widely available chemical agents for fire suppression are:
• FM200 (HFC277ea)
• NOVEC 1230
• IG55

FM200 extinguishes fires primarily by physical means. The molecules of the gas absorb heat, dropping the temperature of the flames to a point at which it cannot propagate; this causes the fire to die down. It is safe for use in occupied areas and in prescribed concentrations.

On the other hand, the NOVEC 1230 is an effective, clean agent, with a non-toxic rapid acting fire suppression system. NOVEC 1230 Fluid is the next generation in fire suppression technology. It has exceptional environmental credentials with a zero ODP, a GWP of just one, and an atmospheric lifetime of only five days.

NOVEC 1230 is stored as a fluid and discharged as a gas. It offers a safety margin of up to 100% – that’s higher than any other clean agent. It reaches its extinguishing concentration in ten seconds or less, and does not leave any residue behind.

With the extinguishing capabilities of 10 seconds or less, NOVEC 1230 Fire Protection Fluid has the capability to extinguish fires quickly and effectively before any damage is done to your valued assets.

Inert Fire Suppression System
With a global surge towards using as many clean and green agents as possible, inert gases are the perfect choice as they are the greenest of all clean agents. The inert gases used are usually blends of the gases nitrogen, argon, or helium. Carbon dioxide is also found in some of the inert gas blends.
The inert gases, when discharged, suppress fire by reducing the oxygen level within the room or enclosure, to below 15% (normal air has 21% oxygen). Below 15%, most combustible materials do not burn (Class A, B, and C fires). At this level of oxygen, life can be sustained, and most people do not feel the effects of a lower level of oxygen.

Pressure venting, and volume are the elements that must be considered. It is critical to design the system to achieve the optimum concentration, without removing excess oxygen from the room. Venting of the inert gases also needs to be considered, as the gases displace the air volume in the affected area.

We can assist you in determining which agent will be best suited to your needs in case of a fire, including the detection and control system.

Among the inert gasses we provide, are ARGOGEN (IG55), ARGONITE (IG55), INERGEN (IG541) and INERTSAFE (IG541).
