Spectrum Int. LLC offers complete installation of wet and dry riser fire hydrant system, hose reel system and sprinkler system.

Fire Hose Reels
The Hose Reel System consists of hose reels which are fixed on specific locations of all floors, connected to a Fire Pump Set. This system is a pressurized one, with the only purpose of fighting a fire that may break out. The hose reel includes a drive motor, which rotates the reel to wind the hose onto the reel, and a clutch which allows the reel to freely rotate when the hose is played out.

This allows the user to take the hose as close to the fire as possible, rotate the reel in any direction needed, and stop the flames from spreading.

Fire Hydrants
A fire hydrant is also known as a fireplug. It is a connection point to the water supply. When the hose is attached to the fire hydrant, the firefighter opens a valve to allow water flow at tremendous pressure. Since the water gushes out at extreme pressure, the use of hydrants is handled by the firefighters who are properly equipped with protective gear. A well-maintained fire hydrant makes it easy to set up the whole system so that the fire can be attacked at the earliest.
Fire Pump System
A fire pump is integral for drawing and providing water to hose pipes and sprinkler systems. Forcing water to higher floors of the buildings requires pressure, which is generated by the fire pumps.

We are suppliers of UL-certified diesel engine fire pumps in the UAE. UL is the international leader in certifying products as per the developed standards. These products are fire extinguishing, detection, and annunciation systems, systems that assist emergency responders, and smoke control systems. The UAE laws requires UL-listed products to be used with fire pump package drivers(Electrical /Diesel /Jockey) so that they function well even when the pressure falls.

Wet & Dry Risers
What is the difference between a dry and wet riser?

  • Dry fire riser system comprises of an empty pipe that can be connected to a pressurized water source.
  • The pipes in the wet riser or wet standpipe system are kept full of water via water tanks and pumps for manual or automatic fire fighting operations.

Dry Riser System
A dry riser system is a network of pipework and valves that allow the Civil Defence Fire Fighters to deliver water to higher floor levels easily and quickly. The maintenance of these pipe networks and associated valves is essential to ensure that they do not leak, can maintain the pressures required for firefighting, and are accessible for quick and easy connection.

Ensuring that the Civil Defence Firefighters have fast access to water supplies throughout the building is one of the most critical aspect of fighting fire. The Firefighters will use their own fire truck or another source of water to charge a dry riser pipework. They will then connect their hoses to each outlet valve on each floor to fight the fire at each level. This quick and easy way of water distribution saves time and is a safer way to fight fires, ensuring that the fire is more easily contained and quickly extinguished.

Wet Risers

Wet riser systems are fitted in high rise buildings as intense pressure is required to pump water to higher levels. A wet riser system distributes water to multiple levels or floors of a building. They have two major advantages. Firstly, they provide a fixed distribution system within the building that requires no external service resources or equipment. Secondly, it is designed as part of, and to maintain, the supply of water of the building, floor-wise.

Like the dry rising main system, wet rising mains too consist of vertical pipes with landing valves at each floor, except the ground. The pipe system is connected to a permanent water supply – normally a tank fed from the buildings’ fire pump set system.

Sprinklers System
Automatic sprinkler systems are one of the first line of defence in controlling fires. The sprinkler head is connected to a pressurized water supply system. It has a pre-set temperature, and when the room heats up to that temperature due to the fire, it opens, to release pressurized water that is capable of dousing both the fire and the hot rising smoke.

Sprinklers can be attached to both the dry and wet pipe systems. A well-maintained sprinkler system can go a long way to control fires, and is a must-have in all the buildings.
